Q. What is an online English class?

A. It is a real-time, one-on-one English class with one of our English teachers, using the internet and our website as a virtual classroom. Our system is easy to use and provides a perfect way to have real conversation practice in English if you are not living in an English-speaking country.

Q. How does it differ from a regular school class?

A. Lessons are conducted on a one-on-one basis, so you can learn at your own pace and schedule. It is very convenient, practical, and cost-efficient. You don't have to travel to school for your English class; simply log-in and start your class session. Entering the virtual classroom is a breeze. The teacher shares her desktop using Vyew. The lessons are shown while the teacher and student interact in the discussion. All lessons are recorded, and the student can always go back and listen to them for review. Lesson materials are of the highest quality; visuals aid and speed up the student's comprehension; reading and listening links are also provided for additional enrichment; the contents are regularly kept up-to-date. Lesson Progress reports are generated by the teacher after each lesson for each student, so learning progress is monitored closely and carefully.

Q. From where are your teachers?

A. Our English language trainers are well-experienced, highly-trained professionals. They are all based in the Philippines, known for its dedicated, patient and hard-working teachers.  All are licensed teachers, English majors from reputable universities. With years of experience in the academe, the teachers also had some stint handling ESL sessions with learners from all over the world.

Q. Will I study my lessons with the same teacher?

A. If you choose to enroll with a fixed, regular schedule, you will study under the same teacher. But if you enroll on a flexible schedule, you may have to study under different teachers, depending on the availability of the schedule. The quality and training of the teachers, teaching methods and lesson materials are nonetheless the same.

Q. What will I do if there is something in the lesson that I cannot understand?

A. The online lessons are interactive, with real English teachers on-board. You can ask your teacher to explain. You may also type your questions in the chat box.

Q. What can I achieve after taking the lessons?

A. All the lessons are arranged in such a way that each follows a certain level of English competency. After each lesson, the student should have attained a certain level one notch higher than the one he was previously in. All EnglishGreat leveling grades are patterned after TOEIC and TOEFL level scores. All our courses and modules have set goals to attain certain English proficiency levels.

Q. What if I miss a class?

A. Just fill up and submit the Remedial Class Request Form which can be accessed by clicking the link at your Student Profile Page. The Administrator will advise you through e-mail about our acceptance of your reason/s and will schedule your remedial class. If you will be absent, send your request within 24 hours before your scheduled leave of absence. Or, if you have been absent due to sickness, send your request for a remedial class as soon as you have resumed attending classes again. The Administrator will see to it that you will have remedial classes.

Q. What is your equipment requirement?

A. A computer with a Windows Operating System of at least 512 RAM or memory, a broadband Internet connection (cable, ADSL, etc.) and a standard headset.

Q. I have a Macintosh computer; can I use it for my English lessons?

A. Yes, you can access our website using Safari.

Q. I'm not familiar with computers. Can I have online English lessons?

A. Yes, you do not need to use any complicated programs with EnglishGreat.com. If you have basic knowledge how to use the internet and Skype, you can attend our classes. We will also support you online to help you get used to the system.

Q. Where can I buy a headset?

A. You can buy a headset from any computer shop.  Please check that the headset you buy can be used effectively with Skype and similar systems.   If you are not sure, please ask the shop personnel and they should be able to help you.

Q. My computer already has speakers. Do I still have to use a headset?

A. We recommend that students use a headset because you get clearer sound reception and you don't produce any feedback from your speakers. Besides, you will need the microphone that comes with any standard headset

Q. Is there any other means of delivering the lessons aside from Skype?

A. The applications (for lesson visuals, audio, whiteboard, etc.) used for the online lessons are already built-in through the system. Skype, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, QQ(China)... and other similar communications providers are to be used as back-up.

Q. How can I avail of the free lessons you are offering?

A. You can avail of our Free Trial Lessons by registering with us and notifying us of your request for the free lessons. You can avail of up to two free trial lessons prior to enrollment.

Q. How will I know my English proficiency level?

A. A free English Level Test is available from the homepage. You can simply click on the button and take the test. You will have to register, however, in order to view the result. Registration is free.

Q. Can I take more than one course?

A. Yes. A study plan will be carefully mapped out for you, based on your English level. Courses will be recommended for your continuing growth. You can take two or more courses at the same time, depending on your needs and schedule.
