Our MethodologyOUR EASY-TO-SPEAK ENGLISH APPROACH EnglishGreat has invested a lot of time and effort for studies and creating our EnglishGreat courses. Our lessons are based on the premise “learn-English-by-speaking-English” which breaks away from the traditional grammar-centered classroom approach. We have developed 100% real-time, learner-centered, conversation lessons. Our experience has led us to believe that constant practice and regular online conversations with an English-speaking teacher about topical lessons facilitate learning of English more quickly and effectively. We provide a conducive all-English environment for constant practice and exposure that will gradually build their confidence in using the language. A lot of theories for learning languages hold that interaction with other speakers is the critical dimension in learning language, that is, a learner’s language proficiencies develop through actual conversation. Stephen Krashen says that the learning of a language requires meaningful interaction in that same language - natural communication or conversation - in which speakers are concerned not with the form of their utterances but with the messages they are conveying and understanding. Stephen Krashen (University of Southern California) is an expert in the field of linguistics, specializing in theories of language acquisition and development. During the past 20 years, he has published well over 100 books and articles and has been invited to deliver over 300 lectures at universities throughout the United States and Canada. http://www.sk.com.br/sk-krash.html
All EnglishGreat Courses are hence conversational and highly inter-active. Lessons begin with a sample dialogue using a modern conversational style in English. The preferred type of exercise is a series of questions based on the dialogue. Questions are all answered in the target language. Grammar inputs are given inductively but indirectly - rules are generalized from the practice and experience of English conversation throughout the lessons.
EnglishGreat has fashioned the "3-C's Approach" which denotes interacting aspects in Conversation, Communication and Comprehension. CONVERSATION 25-Minute Lessons develop the daily habit to speak English with our highly conversant English Language Trainers. COMMUNICATION Topical lessons covering the most common human interests encourage the learner to freely express him/herself with ever-growing levels of confidence. COMPREHENSION The approach is direct and inductive, allowing the learner to discover and integrate grammar previously-learned, with a clearer understanding of usage patterns given through the examples.
A. LEVELED VOCABULARY ENRICHMENT Sets of vocabularies and English expressions are supplied according to learners’ assessed levels (TOEIC-based leveling). More than 1000 new words are introduced for each course! B. GRAMMAR INPUT English grammar is never taught directly, but are contained in the discussions and alluded to as refresher points within the lessons. Examples and usages in actual conversation lead to a better understanding and application of the basic tenets of English. C. PERSONALIZED COACHING The teacher-factor plays a very important role in facilitating language learning. EnglishGreat teachers are trained to be more of facilitators than lesson imparters, which means that the student gets more time to speak and practice while the teacher simply serves as guide and mentor.
THE GOAL:
Enabling goals have been set for each level of English competency, indicating learners’ readiness to move up to a higher notch respective of each Course. Level scores are based on TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS and TOEIC Bridge standards from the first Leveling Test until the highest competency level can be achieved. The comment section is restricted to members only.
